Hon. Kityo Sarah Babirye

Hon. Kityo Sarah Babirye is a distinguished Ugandan leader, youth advocate, and social development champion dedicated to empowering communities and creating opportunities for young people across Uganda. As the Founder and Director of Kityo Sarah Foundation, she provides strategic leadership and vision, guiding the organization's mission of transforming lives through education, skills development, talent promotion, and advocacy for vulnerable communities. Driven by a passion for service, Hon. Kityo Sarah Babirye has devoted her career to advancing youth empowerment, inclusive development, and social justice. Her leadership is founded on the belief that sustainable national development begins by investing in people, equipping them with practical skills, expanding access to education, and creating opportunities that enable them to become self-reliant and contribute positively to their communities.

Leadership Journey

With over fifteen years of public service and leadership experience, Hon. Kityo Sarah Babirye has built a career defined by dedication, integrity, and community engagement.

Mobiliser – Wakiso District Local Government (2005–2006)

She began her public service career as a mobiliser, working directly with communities to strengthen citizen participation, government programs, and local development initiatives.

Youth Female Councillor – Mukono District Local Government (2006–2011)

As a Youth Female Councillor and Chairperson for Natural Resources and Production, she advocated for youth participation in governance while supporting community development and environmental sustainability.

Facilitator – National Youth Council (2011–2015)

During her tenure at the National Youth Council, she mentored young leaders, coordinated youth development initiatives, and strengthened youth participation in national development programs.

Youth Member of Parliament – Central Region (2016–2021)

As the elected Youth Member of Parliament for the Central Region in Uganda's 10th Parliament, Hon. Kityo Sarah Babirye. became a strong voice for young people, women, and marginalized communities. She championed policies focused on youth employment, education, accountability, and inclusive economic development.

President – Uganda Netball Federation (2021–2025)

As President of the Uganda Netball Federation, she worked to strengthen governance within the sport, promote transparency, and expand opportunities for athletes. Her leadership contributed to the growth and development of netball while encouraging greater participation of young women in sports.

Academic Background

Hon. Kityo Sarah Babirye believes that education is the foundation of effective leadership and lifelong service. She attended: Luweero SDA Primary School Mulusa Academy, Wobulenzi (O-Level and A-Level) She later graduated from Uganda Christian University with a First Class Bachelor's Degree in Public Administration and Management, demonstrating academic excellence, discipline, and commitment to personal growth. Her educational background continues to inform her leadership style and dedication to evidence-based decision-making and public service.
